Data Researcher for Edge Analytics

Based at Nexus at the University of Leeds, Edge Analytics, part of the LDC Group, is a specialist in Data Science, demographics & forecasting, using a combination of data, technology and analytical models to generate insight that better informs business planning and decision-making.

The LDC Group supports clients with both the supply side of retail (with the location of every store across the country) and the demand side, including demographic forecasting and analysis.

Edge Analytics is looking to recruit a part-time Data Researcher to join its Consilium team.

Consilium is Edge Analytics’ Local Plan database, providing a comprehensive and consistent approach to the collection, management and presentation of Local Plan housing data. This data provides a crucial input to our demographic forecasts and is also used widely across the business to inform bespoke analytics projects. Data extracts from the database are provided on a regular basis to a range of clients across the utilities, retail, research and local authority sectors.

We are looking to recruit a Data Researcher to support the collection, processing, and organisation of Local Plan Housing data, working with the team to maintain high data quality standards and robust data checking procedures.

Responsibilities include undertaking online research, downloading and processing data into a consistent format, geocoding housing site data, and contacting UK Councils and other planning authorities.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Excellent time management, communication, and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to assimilate information
  • Ability to work in an SME environment
  • Good Excel knowledge
  • Proven experience in online research

Although not essential, a background in Geography/Social Sciences/Demographics would be beneficial, as would experience working with Local Plan housing data and/or planning policy knowledge.

OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU

  • Full on-the-job training
  • Salary: £23,000 Full time equivalent (£12,200 per annum for 20 hours a week)
  • Weekly working hours: 20 hours per week over 5 days
  • Working hours: 10am-2pm
  • 23 days of leave in addition to public and bank holidays (prorated for part-time)
  • 1 day off for your birthday
  • Home working (with 1 day per quarter in the office)
  • Employer Pension contribution of 5%
